Regional context figures
A tertiary-centre study from Eastern Saudi Arabia reported an infertility prevalence of 18.93%, with primary infertility more common than secondary infertility. This finding comes from a peer-reviewed publication and should be reported as a study estimate, not a national prevalence figure. In that same Saudi study, 27.7% of male partners had sperm counts below 15 million, and 68.5% of those cases were azoospermic (no sperm detected in the semen).
This is a useful data point for stories highlighting the importance of male-factor infertility, though again it reflects a specific clinical study population.
